Mikes "Lights"

c:Hey Mike, whats all this smoke in your room. Have you been smoking all this while.
Why dont you open the freaking windows.

m:Stop ceedy, dont. She will vanish. Close the door quick.

c:(with a puzzled look on his face)Vanish, who, where, WHAAAAT?
I cant stand here dude - here is your carton of marlboro lights

m:Ohhh thanks man, how was your India trip.

c:It was great as usual, but it seems you are in some sort of a mess. Wheres Tracy?

m:She is the one who will vanish again.

c:(now i always thought mike was cookie but did not expect him to turn delirious in a matter of two weeks) Dude did she finally leave you for good!!!!

m:Yes man, she did physically but her smoky ghost is all over my room (smiling). Every time I take a ciggy puff, my mind gets Light, I breath her presence in me. She travels the annals of my mind, touches every vein and purifies it, my eyes start to twinkle, the lips are wrapped around her. Then I let her out, slowly, I see her apparition, those penetrating eyes, the cute face, that sultry figure, the silken hair, her inviting arms.....(he kept on going)

c:Dude yes but why all the smoke - you let her out of your system, why not out of the room (I could not beleive that I was actually agreeing to his whole story and giving him suggestions)

m:No man, I cant let her go so easily, the smoke forms her visions, she dissapears and reappears in different forms. I am wrapped by her presence. I miss her physically but will not let her leave this room.

c:Ok, I am tired, will talk to you later.
(Later lying on my bed I kicked myself - had I got Mike 400 sticks of pain or pleasure - or to be more precise almost 4500 forms of Tracy's Ghost)

Well, you didnt' intent to harm your friend by giving that to him. You did it for the good... But, if all said here is true.. you could help out your friend... take him out .. and let him breath that tracy air out of his system. it could go worse... cheers!

I dunno why some ppl cant get over a broken love, especially when the other person is the one who dumped them.

I hope he gets the help that he needs.

Maybe he just need some time to get over Tracy. And people do have their own ways to deal with it. You handing him the lights won't matter much, he can get one himself. If possible, all you can do is to make him engage in something else.

Preethi said...

He seems to be more obsessed with the feeling of being obsessed than the person 'Tracy'.Or maybe i'm wrong. As for smoking i'm still the gudy-gudy one who strongly believes IT IS INJURIOUS TO HEALTH.

But in the grand scheme of things here ... this definitely is not your responsibility ..... of that i'm sure.

@everyone
first of all - I had labelled this story as "fiction" so thats what it is :) a figment of my imagination - while smoking a casual cigerette :) so there is no mike or tracy.....

i guess putting myself in the story made it more realistic :)

it gives me great pleasure to know from the responses
1) smoking is bad - as most agree
2) what you do as a good deed (not in this case) just do it
3) there is no point in crying over spilt milk....specially relationships

Thanks for the insightful comments

@v_h
Read the comment for "everyone"

But I still get your message - giving someone a gift that is harmful in the first place - is a bad deed no matter what :)

thank you

yes man people in this state need to be really handled carefully - its a thin line as they are on the edge between depression and normality

ceedy said...

@durjoy datta

ceedy said...

@preethi

this time you did not quite get it :) so am i shmart now :) hehehe

read the comment for everyone above also...for explanation

but what you say is right - people in this state are self inflicting pain and suffering and one has to be very calm in dealing with them...

Hi Ceedy,
Nice short story. I just don't know if that was a figment of your imagination or that incident really transpired. It was something to make so many things from cigarettes smokes. This smoke can be an unwitting canvas from a fertile imagination. Thanks for the wonderful post. God bless and have the most wonderful time in the US always.

Okie. Firstly, I read most of the comments above this, so I know the scene! One of my friends had linked your post and had gone on to write a scathing review, and this was my comment which I had posted there. I'm cross-posting it here. Nice imagination bro. Keep them coming!

Da comment I left on Veen's(currently v h) blog:

I love swimming against the tide of opinions, as it causes me to think more deeply. While at first glance, this friend seems to be a worst enemy, but there could be more than what meets the eye. I'm not even trying to say that my reasoning is the same thing that drove this person to suggest his friend the solution that he did, but here it is, anyway:

When a person is in deep depression, he might not be in a position to accept what you say, even if it is perfectly sensible. If you persist, he might even isolate himself from you totally, which is an even worse situation, so you might concede to some of his wishes, however moronic they may be. Of course, I would not bring him a bottle of poison or a crate of whiskey, but sometimes, indulging their whims is the best way to convince them that you are with them. Then, once you have succeeded in convincing them, do your bit to talk sense. If you jump the gun, you might not be in a position to be of any help at all.
