Word Huddle
My blog decided to talk to me and here is an application that it used to interact with me to indicate whats on my mind these days when I am blogging.
Here is what it spoke :
1) Le Corbusier : A Swiss born architect who is famous for his contribution to modern architecture. Most of his groundbreaking projects are in Europe. He was invited by Jawaharlal Nehru to masterplan Chandigarh (one of the only two planned cities in the world - the other being Brasilia, Brazil).

Shodhan House - Ahmedabad - (image source)
2) Charles Correa : I have had the honor of working with Indias most prolific architect practicing out of Bombay. He has done ground breaking work on Urban Issues and low cost shelter. He is also the chief architect for Navi Mumbai. I have visited most of his major commisions around India. Here are two of the projects that characterizes his style.

Jawahar Kala Kendra - Jaipur - (image source)
3) Steven Holl : Architect practising out of New York whom I had the opportunity to meet and get a book he wrote signed by him. He is a true poet who carves out spaces and embellishes them with light, color, texture and dynamism. One of his most famous projects is Kiasma in Helsinki. Here are two of his projects in US.
Simmons Hall - MIT - (image source)
Storefront for Art and Architecture - New York - (image source)
4) Frank Gehry - Current master architect whos buildings have become big tourist attractions.Some of his most groundbreaking work include the Guggenheim Museum - Bilbao, Spain, Walt Disney Concert Hall -Los Angeles, US, Experience Music Project - Seattle, US. Here are two projects that I have visited.
State Center - MIT - (image source)
IAC Building - New York - (image source)
5) Frank Lloyd Wright : He was the most prolific architect from US for the last century who exploited materials, design and engineering like no one had done before him. Here are two of his projects that explore the strength of concrete.
The Solomon Guggenheim Museum - New York - (image source)
Falling Waters - Pennsylvania (near Pittsburgh) - (image source)
This post in no way justifies the achievements of these architects. Have provided wiki links to each of them if you are interested to learn more.

And bingo - there it was !!!!
It just had to be there I suppose.
I also love Wright's Robie House for some reason. Perhaps cz Priare styles is the kinda styles I identiy with.
Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Hall is a masterpiece...!!!
And Charles Correa is a very inspiring architect.
Was recently going thru the design of his own house here in B'lore for a project.
Love his work !
Even though Chndigarh is a much touted "planned city" hasnt its success as one always been much debated about ?
And so has been Le Corbusier for his miscalculations in the growth projection that he appaerntly foresaw and designed the whole city wrt to that ?
I loved your list anyway.

hey that application generates nthg for my blog url :((( help pls!
also..i had a Q for an architect? Can i ask u. Its sumthing to do with the closet in my new home.
Wow! That was a great post. Wasn't Charles Correa also involved in shaping Chandigarh? While studying for SPA, I had learnt about few architects and their works. But now I am in a completely different field. Architecture is human imagination personified!
The waterfall pic took my eyes over!! I love it... I like them all!!!
NE
That last waterfall pic overtook my eyes... I loved all the pics.. but with that last one, i see another road trip coming to mind!!!
looking to finish it soon(the cliff hanger)! It is still set to private I will change it soon!!!

Hmm...what's so interesting about the Shodhan House? Did I miss something?
Loved the Kanchenjunga one, looks like its made of lego :)
Struggling to "see" the building in Jawahar Kala Kendra :O
Gehry's work, quirky!
I did the wordle, kain samaj na aayu :(
loved the word huddle...
and the tag about the 6 eminent architects is way too good..
i liked the jawahar kala kendra- jaipur, the storefront for a&A, the falling waters and the crumpled satte centre..
If literature MASTERPIECES are on pages, architectural wonders are scripted on land..
loved the pics man..

@nitin
Re: Kanchenjunga
Check this link
http://www.pushpullbar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2982
There is a slide which explains its architecture.
If you have specific question - feel free to ask.
This building was built in 1974...and was way too advanced for its time.
@aarthi
Ok let me know when you do the word tag...
There are many more interesting building I have been too...
If I post them - it might as well be another blog....
Habitat center is by Joseph Allen Stein....he is based in pune (i think)
@solitaire
The building and the site are magnificient.
It is in Millrun Pennsylvania not in WV.
@hiren
hahah
yeh abhi ka haal hai...karm bhoomi ka..
kya pata kal kaha hoge :)
never thought will leave bombay...but it happened...so...
@ cinderella
Yes, FLW has to be there.
I have been to all his works in Chicago - Robie House, his office/residence.
They dont allow photography inside Robie House as it is a World Heritage Site.
I just had to put 10 inspirations...so these selections.
I attended a lecture by Frank Gehry in Princton University. He is a very interesting personality.
I love his Bilbao project the best - someday I will go there.
Correa and also BV Doshi both of them are really inspiring.
Chandigarh - yes has its drawbacks in terms of planning etc - have you been there?
People living there are happy as they identify themselves with the place.
had a study tour there for 8 days and I stayed there. It was very interesting experience.
Well Le Corbusier - out of all these - was a complete technocrat - he beleived and designed as per what he wanted - cared less for anyone...
Glad you loved the list....
Hope we can design or be part of atleast one such project someday :)
@daydreamer
Main paise to nahi loonga...but you will have to pay for my ticket to India :P
Honestly architecture is a very closed field....only architects kinda discuss the buildings..
@scribbler
Did you show it to the landlord?
@gunj
Kewl..did you try it.
@prats
Yeah...I will post the pics of my visit there...interior shots...
Yeah had a chance to work with him while in college for a private project for 18 months...
He is simply "genious" overpowering person....no wonder he gets things done the way he wants
@sameera
Did you try the word huddle?
yeah...will post pics of my visit there.
@ xh
I will post some pics soon...I havent done any real big work till now ;)
@rakesh
this was a tag of something that inspires me - that I have seen
Mohenjo Daro - not seen - so not inspired....
@compassion unlimited
thanks for the generous kind words...
@pavi!!!!!
did you get time to do the first one or read the second part????
@ buzzz
ok waiting
@ princess mia
work food????
@pavi!!!!
Did the application work?
Sure you can ask questions...
@joy
thanks...hope I did justice to inspirations...
No - it was Bal Krishna Doshi another master architect from India who was involved with Chandigarh
Correa was I guess studying here at that time.
Are you trained as architect???
architecture is a culmination of all arts - so true
@ne
If you plan to visit - do go there in Fall - its beautiful
Here is the link
http://www.fallingwater.org/
reserve your tickets soon as they get filled fast...
Let me know if you do visit and how you like it..
and did you finish the cliffhanger?
@aneri_masi
You questions are all pertinent..
Architeture like art is vague for many.
The only thing I can summarize here -
All these projects are done at a time - that challenges the normal building tradition.
Like for Shodhan Villa is built in 1951 when exposed concrete, house looking like a box was not prevalent in India.
Plus it is oriented with the sun and wind. And then there are lot of theories of good design that we learn with it.
Jawahar Kala Kendra is not a building per say but a grid of nine squares depicting the navagraha....each square is an open courtyard depicting different aspects of indian art/mythology in modern context
What you see in this picture is the "kund" but without water...like the central meeting place of a village.
and about the wordle...all it shows is the words that you repeat on your blog...and what is going on your mind in your posts....
@jane
did you try the word huddle?
glad you liked the post...
there are many more buildings I can write about...but it had to be 10 :)
@kp
I think you are right...I am passionate about it
@d'sinner
yup it is...
@v
yeah he is the current master architect in the world...lost of his work is really out of this world
@urv
ok....it is interesting
@cess
welcome here and glad you liked it.
I love the first tag. I will post mine soon...still gloating about the JA post :P
Nice pictures. Sadly, I know nothing about architecture. Hey, have you heard about the SATC movie from your women friends?
If yes, maybe they told you about Carrie's humongous closet!! How much would you estimate the cost to design/build something like that?
u knw what... I never have heard abt them..sachi!
but I have seem Frank Gehry's these 2 building in mails :)
amazing :)
I put in my blog url and it said "clip sweep" and then nothing :(
but I guess even if it did work, it would tell me i talk about my hubby all the time :)
i will surely try out the word huddle :) i think it looks cool!
wil have genieass in big font ;)
wow!!
@carolinagal
Good you gloated...that surely can count as a blog blooper if ever there is one...
and second part - now I am careful...is that a trick question?
@veens
its fine....architects ko koi nahi pehchante anyways :(
@aneri
well it works fine on my comp. I tried your url and get a picture...
and sorry hubby is no where in the picture......
i will email you the result...
@jane
Ok lets see the outcome...you dont have a choice..it tells you about your ass :P
@m. flowerr
wback...:)
No no, its not a trick question. I am really interested to know. I would like to have one of those some day. How soon I can have it depends on how much it might cost :P
Didn;t know many of these! :)
but i must say, these are really beautiful!
you know, you really love your job, and also havea lot o respect for it, and i respect you for that! really!
nice post indeed!
loved the word huddle:P
@carolinagal
Ok then..
there are lot of variable...first where you want to build it - your house that you own or apartment that you rent - what is the space that you have available - most of these cost run per square foot for construction - and obviously the materials and finishes
I know about SATC and have seen some episodes on HBO but have not seen the movie...if I do see it - I can write in more detail...
and now the gujju thing...cost of closet is a one time investment - but replinishing it with accessories is a life long endevour - how can I put a cost on it :P
@radhika
it is today 16 years since I first started to learn about architecture....it is my second skin you I respect you for respecting me....thanks for the kind words
@aqua girl
thank you...how you managed to do it...
NOT YET CD!! I am still thinking of away to write more.. My memory fails me from time to time!! lol
Oh and your recent comment.. you have to come to see my comment to that! hahaha HELP ME OUT A LIL Eh?
Will let you know and will take Pics!
ne.
i thought u must have heard abt. harappa and mohanjodro sanskriti...their architecture were famous.no problem:)
@ne
that question is eternal...even HE could not figure it out...and think of it...isnt it the same with everything within us...its almost the same for everyone to function and live...except the freaking brain and the exterior covering.....
@rakesh
Yes, I have very much heard of both those places...but again I have not visited them..only read about them
i have also read and seen the photo only...but ur choices are good enough to know abt. ur taste of ur arch..:)
