An Honest Attempt

If you have not read my last post Me and Mrs. Muller - 32 Days, please do so before reading this post.

http://ceedyreflections.blogspot.com/2007/12/me-and-mrs-muller.html

First of all it is a work of fiction - so nobody died.
I did not try to confuse anyone - just was experimenting with a style of writing.

Explanation of what I was trying to accomplish:

Some time back had seen a movie Memento (Imdb Link).
Here is the WIKIPEDIA Link that explains the concept of the movie - it unfolds in two seperate narratives one moving forward in black and white and one in reverse chronological order in color.
So similarly I attempted to write a story The way we are trained we like to read the book in a sequence or an artical from top to bottom. This post tries to play with that notion.
If interested there is also a philosophical movement "Deconstruction"(Wikipedia Link) based on similar principles.

I specifically used two colors - Black for narrative for Ceedy and red for narrative of Mrs. Muller.

The Story actually starts in the second paragraph - you read all the alternate RED PARAGRAPHS till you reach the end. Then you start reading the second last paragraph in BLACK as you move upwards till you come to the start of the story.

The First paragraph is actually the END of the story and the last paragraph is the MIDDLE of the story.

The disjointed nature of each three lines is because they happen at different times in the over a period of 32 days - where each of them depicts a feeling or an idea that is important and pertinent.

Hope this helps.

Reminds me of Sidney Sheldon and his usage of normal & italics text format to convey different levels of the story.

Novel & crisp storytelling style.

when I first read it, I kinda didn't understand!! I thougt it was some jumbled form, coz something seemed related :)

this post helps understand a lot better!
nice method .. though i have Never come across this style.. the closest thing i think is the one in Stephen Kings, in which he goes into past and present ( i am reading this "Lisey's Story")

have a good day!

Hi Ceedy,
I don't know about that kind of style in writing but I will not want to give my readers a headache trying to decipher heads or tails about my post. Well, that's just my opinion, my friend. I don't want to criticize your style. I never have the right to do so. It's just like interpreting a piece of poetry or a sacred verse. One tries to decipher the layers and layers of meanings until he uncovers the esoteric one. The problem is, most bloggers don't have the luxury of time to do some mental calisthenics. They just hop from one blog to another to honor their regular correspondences. These are just my two cents worth of opinion. Let that not bother you as you're free to indulge in your own style of writing. Thanks for the explanation to your previous post. God bless and have the best and most productive time in the US.

Can u believe that i got the seq right with ur first Mrs. Muller post? and i knew that it was fwd bckwrd thing with the color association but it still didn't make complete sense to me becos i was stuck with the idea that someone had died. Phew!
What a self-obsessed person i'm! I'm happy with my smartness in deciphering this thing and not so much in urs 4 having penned it!! he heeee
