Unfortunately Fortunate

(this is my own repeat post - from when I only had few readers - but want to share with more people and get more inputs)

The views put forth may not go very well with many readers - but this is something I do beleive and want to share it. I am not immune to emotions but I think I have the strength to overcome it.
All our lives we are somehow morose or sad and are always finding a reason
Why somethings did not go the way we wanted it to or assumed it to be.
Why do WE have to face these sudden changes.
What have I done to get this and so on and so forth.
Happiness goes in a blink but sadness stares at us forever.We trap ourselves into a cycle of self "mental molestation".
What happens is that we tend to forget the great moments of our life, or just remember them as a sad memory, and also at the same time loose all this current precious time in our lives.
Everyone faces this quandary in all walks of life - career, family, relationships, friends........Sometime ago I read this little quote "I've learned that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become." and in my solitude I mulled over it and it got me thinking (something that I do naturally every moment of life).
Arent we all slaves of our own doing. We want freedon from every aspect our our lives but dont have the strength to gain freedom from our very sad self. Freeing yourself from sadness to live those little moments of happiness that you experienced is what I think makes you fortunate in the most unfortunate circumstances.
I think one should feel fortunate that we have LIFE and try hard not to waste its nuances by going on celebrating sadness. Instead celebrate those moments that were really exhilerating in , relationship, career, family, friends - that you currently miss - feeling lucky that you had a chance to experience those great unforgetable moments. (many people dont ever get a chance to experience it)
Try hard to take that as a positive experience - Enrich the SELF, strengten your SOUL. A person who you are not aware of exists within you....
It is easier said then done and many people think that this is a selfish unemotional approach - I agree but I am trying hard to be responsible for what I become henceforth and not blame the circumstances and the world for where I am currently -

Sometimes the moment isn't that great. And sometimes one finds inspiration and hope for the future in the quiet pondering that comes in the stillness of sadness.

this to me is the cracker. Sometimes we r slaves to other ppl s doings too. Sometimes other peopel dictate our lives. Their actions decide our happines and sorrows. thats a harsh irony of life.

yes i agree we are slaves of other peoples doings - but how long - once you know the answer - be sad for sometime (it is part of our human nature) but then fight this sadness.
ironically we dont have a medicine we can pop to cure sadness like we do to cure other illnesses.....
this battle has to be fought from within....and hell with dictators - we live in a free world :)

Nice thoughtful write-up that brings out the practicality and realism lost otherwise in our journey of life.There are many times when i am depressed or crib abt sumtin..but then what wakes me up from my slumber is a reminder that tells me that hey, atleast i have a life...not many ppl are even fortunate to get this much.And with that ends all the kvetching.

you know...i totaly identify myself with you...when we face a difficulty we lament and we are unable to see the good effects it may have...everything happens for a reason...it is when the happier times comes that we realize this...the worst thing one can do is to let go of oneself under pressure of trying times....this friend used to say...tough times dont last but tough people do...whether we give in or hold on is in our hands...and nothing can happen against our will...

@anuj
yeah man....thats the bst way.....or else we are wasting away one more day of our lives

@annie
you are absolutly right, this attitude can help us in all possible scenarios relationship, love, work, family, friends...it just takes effort

hey misery is an excellent weapon, dont have a grudge against it :P misery is what brings out the best in people and artists. Look at history of any great artist in any field....they are at some point just before they have come out with their best work.....are going thru some kind of misery.....
in todays world read about "steve jobs" and his turmoil before the advent of ipod.
the trick is to make the best use of this phase of life....and that is within us

@phoenix
very true...."tough...."
the idea is to make your heart beleive that what you are doing is right for you - the mind simply follows....
if you try to havea logical battle with the mind then it becomes difficult venture.

hmm i agree...
we shouldent cry because its over..instead lets smile cos it happened...:)
many a times we tend to brood over the misfortunes of life too much...so much tht we tend to forget the happy moments we lived...
have always loved tht quote by roosevelt...its really tough but sometimes in life,we have to just learn to let go...
i liked the flow of thoughts...
keep writing!

@annie
initially a whole lot of effort but once it becomes a habit it will come naturally, beleive me

ceedy said...

@virtuvian
yes self beleif is what makes or breaks us....problems, mistakes, frustration are part of life...just like happiness, joy, exhileration.....we give up happiness very easily but sadness it takes time!!!!Why

ceedy said...

@pri
if you perceive every aspect of life as an experience that is constantly going to change - like happiness does not last forever - same way sadness too....its all in our hands...

seriously when geting up in the morning I don't really think of the beauty that a december morning cud have but i tend to think o the problems that i have to find answers to!
in days i have not read anything close to truth for one's own being!

reminded me to put all grudges behind and just see the beauty in today!

If you want your future to be memorable then work on your present.
Coz your past is the outcome of your present.
If you see that your Past isn't as you expected it to be then you sure must have messed up your present.
